Will I need a physician's prescription?
While the initial consultation does not require a prescription, a physician's prescription IS required prior to fabricating a custom orthotic or prosthetic (artificial limb) to ensure proper treatment of your physical condition. Evaluations and consultations are always done free of charge.
How soon after surgery will I be ready to be fit with my prosthesis?
That decision will ultimately be made by your doctor, although our staff will make every attempt to consult with your physician regarding your amputation and prosthesis.
How is it decided what kind of prosthesis I will get?
Your unique needs, requirements and medical issues will affect the decision making process in determining the process that goes into making your prosthesis. We will conduct a thorough evaluation and conversation with you, as well as your physician and physical therapist, to determine the best possible prosthesis or artificial limb.
Will my insurance pay for these services?
Most insurance companies do pay for Orthotic and Prosthetic services, however, each insurance company and individual policy may vary. An experienced staff member will contact your insurance company to help you determine what your specific coverage is. In cases without coverage special financial arrangements may be made.
