I was nervous after my amputation, not knowing what would come next. Bruce and Ken were able to keep me informed, saw me frequently and got up and going. This is my fourth AFO and my third from Progressive Orthotics. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The process of getting a new AFO was easy and Bruce and Ken explained everything as they created a custom brace that is extremely comfortable to wear. Orthotic surgeon Megan Paulus performed a BKA on me in September, 2019. Prior to the surgery, she gave me a list of her preferred prosthetists, with Bruce Goodman heading the list. My wife and I spent almost an hour with Bruce while he explained what to expect after surgery, types of prosthetic devices and answered our many questions. After surgery, Bruce fitted me with a shrinker, and later came to my house (a house call!) to take a plaster casting of my stump. When I went to his office to pick up my "foot", I was immediately able to walk up and down the hallway (with the aid of a walker). Now, a week later, I am able to walk around my house, without a walker. “I am a physician and posting my second review. The practice is simply the best at what it does; relieving pain and discomfort with clinical and evidence-based expertise. I had 3 years of functional limitation after a foot injury and pain levels that varied between 5-10, and had seen multiple specialists. I was not a candidate for surgery so it was meds, PT and orthotics and my pain became chronic. It was Bruce Goodman who correctly diagnosed my altered foot mechanics and the type of custom orthotic I needed to start healing. This was the key ingredient and correction I needed to start a true recovery (along with another round of PT and graded exercise). I started with him a year ago and here's the thing; when I started to improve, I still needed follow-up and adjustments and revised orthotics as your body begins to fight to get back to better function. They know that healing is a process and that is what makes them special. My pain level is now 0-3 and I can have a good quality of life. My thanks to the practice. By the way, I found this practice on a recommendation by a trusted friend and orthopedic surgeon and I drive 120 miles roundtrip to see them. That says a lot about the quality you can expect.

But this past summer, I was diagnosed with gout and had new onset acute pain. Bruce is an experienced professional, who is willing to answer questions & do precise measurements for custom fabrications. I dealt with 2 other Suffolk County orthotic/boot fabricators before Bruce. The devices they made for me exacerbated my foot injury, rather than alleviating it. One set of orthotics caused such a problem that I required surgery to repair the damage. After my prior experiences, I was leery of dealing with yet another orthotic/prosthetic company but Bruce Goodman knows his business.
